“I knew you were the one for me. You have challenged me, you have laughed with me, you've enjoyed life with me, and you have loved me in a way I didn’t know existed.”
Marklie & Kirby’s winter wedding in Baraboo, WI was everything you’d want a cozy, intimate celebration to be. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed into their family like one of their own, and it was such an honor to capture all the tears, hugs, laughter, and love that filled the day.
I don’t think I’ve ever filmed a wedding this raw and personal before. The cabin tucked away in the winter woods created the perfect backdrop—calm, unhurried, and full of warmth despite the cold. The speeches were unforgettable, especially the father of the bride’s. It was the perfect mix of heartfelt and hilarious, and had everyone smiling through tears.
And then there was the portrait session. These two braved the frozen lake, and it was nothing short of legendary. That moment perfectly captured the beauty (and the chill!) of a Wisconsin winter, and it made for some of my favorite frames I’ve ever shot.
This day was a reminder of why I love what I do—intimate weddings like this leave a lasting mark not just on film, but in memory.
